IELTS Practice Books from Al Mutanabbi Bookshop

Hello again!

Well, I spoke to my mate Mubarek at Mutanabbi Bookshop (in Medinat Zayed, behind HSBC main branch, telephone 02 6340319) and he confirmed that they have 6 copies of that
Cambridge Grammar for IELTS + answers/audio CD. The reference is ISBN 0521 60462 1, the special discount price for Tony's students is AED 110. It looks really good for IELTS-related grammar exercises that also practise Reading, Listening and Writing.

While you are at it, there is the purple Cambridge Practice Book 5 + double audio CD ISBN 0521 67701 1 at AED 220 - after discount - they probably have Book 4 as well [we used practice Book 3 on the course].

Go for it! The apple of knowledge will not jump from the tree into your hand, so grab it and bite it! {I suppose it might fall off in the wind and you can eat it before it goes rotten!}

Dear Tony,
I went to the book store "Al Mutanabi" and bought the book "Grammer for IELTS". I have not had the chance to read it yet but it looks very good.
I met Ahmad in the Learning Zone today and we spent some time discussing some questions together and then we worked separately.
The learning zone is very busy with students and it seems the teachers are booking the room frequently. I was asked to leave, although I was using the computer on the left end of the room. There is a scheduale on the notice board near the entrance in the learning zone showing when the room will be free, but that gets changed easily.
Yours sinserely,
Maryam

Hi,

I will buy only "Grammar for IELTS" because I already have all the version of IELTS book.
Sorry Tony I could not go today to the BC because I was at the university until 2:00 pm. I will try maybe tomorrow inshallah.

I am working in the MBA cases right now.

Bye for now

Well done, Maryam! You are keen and hungry - a good combination! I'll have to buy a copy of "Grammar for IELTS" before they all go! Don't worry, I'll get Mubarek to order some more...

As for being asked to free up up the computer on the left - THAT TEACHER HAS NO RIGHT TO DO THAT! You must complain, as the BC's IT Co-ordinator, Sam Fenwick, has told all the BC teachers that IELTS students have PRIORITY for those two PCs. Did you use the PCs in the Information Room?

BC teachers are expected to have their students SHARE a PC and work together - there are 11 (?) other PCs besides the two on the left.

So if this happens, refuse to leave the PCs on the left - these are RESERVED for outside students, in particular IELTS candidates. In the past, some sessions were closed to BC teachers and the whole LZ was available for self study for other students.

I shall mention this point when I de-brief the BC Director of Studies on your end-course questionnaire and recommendations.

Saeeda, concentrate on the IELTS re-sit! However, as you already seem to have started the MBA, the university must assume that your English is good enough and they will accept whatever IELTS score that you manage???

I shall look at your essay later today. My daughter arrives from London this evening and we have a lot of news to catch up on...

Bye for you

I sinCerely apologise for the inconvenience suffered in trying to access the LZ for private study.

Students, you are the customers, if this happens again, refuse to leave the LZ and complain to the Reception desk to speak to the Director of Studies, Peter Williams, or IT Co-ordinator, Sam Fenwick.

Hmmmm!!

Tony (still in town!)

The university accepts me with my last IELTS certificate but I need to update for them.
I am trying my best I hope “Insha Allah” I got the IELTS Score 6 or 6.5. It depends on Allah.

I am very busy with MBA study and I am trying to post for you some writing tasks.

Bye for Now
