The greatest invention in history – The computers

‘Necessity’ is said to be the mother of invention and this is the “Age of computers”. I intend to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of computer.

The biggest advantage of computer is that speeded work process. Therefore, the work load will be less because almost everything can be done in a short time. For example, widespread usage of computers brought the information around the global very closer by using internet. This is beneficial to all people especially businessman. Also, the computer is playing a vital role in medical field. The progress we achieved in the field of medical service that doctors in distant places who been able to contact through computer in case if require a specialist attention. Finally, Computers are used in Education currently. E-Learning by computer is one method nowadays for studying because many people want to continue their higher education without traveling abroad so E-Learning narrowed distends.


On the contrary, there are some disadvantages in using computers. One main disadvantage is it might shut-down or might not work. Subsequently, people will stop thinking and using their skills because they will be relying on computers. People are relying on computer to contact their families and their meetings with relatives are reduced than before now. For example, the most modern country like America value of relation is diminishing and there is increased in numbers of broken families. The last drawback is that computers are not secure as a virus can attacks computer through a copy disk or internet and damage the PC.


Overall, people needs to bear in their mind that computer has both a negative and positive side in our life.

Overall, people need to bear in mind that computers have both a negative and positive effect on our lives.

Hmmm, I see the classic HCT "for and against" / "advantages and disadvantages" approach, then a conclusion that tells me nothing about what YOU Saeeda Al-Romaithi really think about computers. Also there is no PERSONAL reference to how computers have affected YOUR life, country, society and culture here in the UAE. Never mind, this will come. In such task 2 essays for IELTS writing we expect you to refer to your personal experience and give examples from such phenomena that will support your ideas and help justify your opinions.
