Welcome to 2007 and the latest weblog

Good evening everyone!

This is the 16th in a sequence of weblogs that stretch back to March 2005!

I really hope that this IELTS class contributes to making this weblog a success and an integral part of our upcoming IELTS Preparation course at the British Council Abu Dhabi.

Till we meet again...

Best regards

Tony

Hello, how is everyone doing? well well well it was really an interesting class yesterday and I really did enjoy it :) if you can believe that!!!!
Thanks Tony for your enthusiasm which is contagious and I will try my best during our classes.
Hope to communicate more with our classmates and to improve our language by practicing.
I think I will leave some space for others to contribute; I do not want the rest to think that I have used my share and theirs while they did not have the opportunity to express themselves.
Bye everyone and take care.

Hello again,
This is what I have found regarding our first task, I hope it will be informative to you as it was to me.
The establishment of a fixed cycle of twelve labours was attributed by the Greeks to an epic poem, now lost, written by Peisandros of Rhodes, dated about 600 BC (Burkert).

As they survive, the Labours of Heracles are not told in any single place, but must be reassembled from many sources.
Pointing to a possible location for their origin, or at least their formalisation, is the fact that most of the geographic locations, are all located in, or on the borders of Arcadia, or connected with it significantly.
When he had come of age and already proved himself an unerring marksman with a bow and arrow, a champion wrestler and the possessor of superhuman strength, Heracles was driven mad by Hera. In a frenzy, he killed his own children. To atone for this crime, he was sentenced to perform a series of tasks, or "Labors", for his cousin Eurystheus, the king of Tiryns and Mycenae. By rights, Hercules should have been king himself, but Hera had tricked her husband Zeus into crowning Eurystheus instead.

Mouza 3 : The Rest 0!

Excellent start, young lady!

The more I get from the class, then the more I feel like expending my time and efforts!

Use the weblog as MUCH as you want - there are students who have carried a weblog on behalf of the others in the class. Guess who benefitted the most in the process???

Do keep the comments and POSTS rolling in!

Thanks for the information on Hercules (as we call him in English). So he had 12 tasks and you 'only' have 2 tasks for IELTS Writing.

You will find me a hard, but fair taskmaster! Since as Shakespeare said (Hamlet Act III, scene iv), "I must be cruel only to be __ __ __ __ " {What is the missing word?}

Enjoy the weekend, that's an order!

Hi, I havn't been able to figure out how to use this site. I've been working for hours and I aleady had headache, so can you pleeeeease tell me how we can write down our contributions in the main page.
And since I am tired from trying, I will write down my letter here for the time being hopfully in the future I will learn how to do it right.

Dear Tony,
This is my first letter to you, and I hope it will be the beginning of a life long friendship.
My name is Mutaz Farhad, I’m Iraqi from Baghdad. I work in SKMC as a house officer in general surgical department.
I decided to join the IELTS course to find out what does that exam consist of and how can I get the best results, although I’m not very much worried about the scores, at least for the time being, because too much thinking means too much anxiety and this is the biggest enemy of a student in an exam.
I believe I’m going to learn a lot in the next three weeks for two reasons:
First I’m practicing English in a friendly environment under supervision of an expert (that’s you).
Second and this is what I like most in the British Council is that they have the ability to make the process of learning fun.
I think all parts of IELTS are going to be difficult since as you said the last time we all want the magic seven but after the first lecture we had, I became quite sure that I’m going to suffer alot from “Writing” because I have a life long problem in transferring thought into words, and it usually takes me hours to write a single paper.
You kept asking us about how much commitment we could give; well you know that how MEN are allergic to this word..!
However, I will try my best to find out enough time to study to satisfy you and most of all my humble soul.
Best regards,
Mutaz

Hi,

Welcome Mutaz to the blogger (join the club of the terror). It is nice to meet some one from SKMC. In the beginning I was not familiar with the tools in the website. I tried perhaps 10 times to know how to write my comments and posted. Still I am learning about this site.

See you tomorrow in the class.

Bye
