My report on a topic about how the water cycle works (Insight book, page 77, writing task 1)

The diagram illustrates how the water cycle works. I will be talking about the process and different steps that takes place in the water cycle.

Evapouration can happen in various places such as: Seas, rivers, and lakes. Evapouration occurs because of the sun's strong heat and causes invisible water vapour to rise up. Transpiration from plants and trees also allows the water vapour to rise above into the clouds. Together, water vapour from evapouration of seas and transpiration of plants and trees will start cooling and therefore begins to form clouds. As the wind forces the clouds to move further, the clouds cool even more and causes rain.

Rain water will flow into the rivers and lakes, which will then flow into the sea. Ground water will also be flowing into the sea and again evapouration and transpiration will begin. Eventually, the cycle will not end.

Nice one, Mona! Describing a process might well come up in IELTS Academic writing.

Think of changing your second sentence:

"I will be talking about the process and different steps that takes place in the water cycle."

Keep it factual and more objective, along the lines of"

"It deals with the process and different steps that constitute this natural phenomenon".

I'll leave you to use this suggestion or not, Mona. As with Maryam's essay, I shall get around to looking at this task 1 report critically when I have the time. Zeena needs picking up from after school activities now though.

Bye

Tony
